IS IT A HYBRID???

Can you believe it is the end of February already? Rikki here with another Friday layout share, but seriously the end of February!!!
Today I am sharing with you a mixed media layout, more like a  hybrid as it includes loads of layered flowers, fussy cut butterflies and gesso.

So to start just build put your background with some texture paste through a stencil... allow to dry, but if your like me and want to continue working on it this is where your Alsion Ellis Designs Heat gun will come into play.

Once its dry you will need to paint Derivan Paints Gesso all over the texture paste and you will want it quick thick, allow to dry. Also if you want your Molossi Chipboard Butterfly frame, white this would be also a great time to do that.

Then its time to spray your mist for your background colour I have used Ranger Dylusions in several colours.

Once it is all dry its just about the construction, the hardest part of me was cutting the photo so it sat in the frame, I just cut a circle the same size of the frame, onto some tracing paper, then used some washi to attach it on the photo and then cut the photo around the template. Don't forget to attach some X-press It Foam Mount under the photo.

Then its just a matter of clustering all my flowers on, around and under the frame, I also attached some of the fussy cut butterflies around the frame and the flowers.

MIXED MEDIA NOTEBOOK BY LEANNE

Hi all Leanne back with another share for you for this month using Molossi chipboard. I did this altered book for a friend for her birthday which I covered in 7 dots paper strips then I gave it a wash in gesso, then I used textured stamps and sprays to grunge it up along with some gelato's and mixed media inks. I then used some acetate frames and flowers and embellishments to finish it off along with my Molossi bird on a branch chipboard piece.

Here is a close up of the Molossi Chipboard bird on a branch which I collaged in papers and sealed in gel medium, then I rubbed some mixed media inks on him.

Don't forget you can check out all the wonderful chipboard at www.molossi.com.au retail store or www.molossiwholesale.com.au for the wholesale.

Till next time thanks for looking.

MORE FROM FEBRUARY GDT ANGELA WESTLAND!

Layout using the rolled edge technique and a pocket in the bottom left hand corner for a journalling memento

Hi Angela here again this month!! This is the second layout I completed for Molossi using their beautiful papers, I have rolled the top left corner which I added a tag inside and made a pocket in the bottom left hand corner for the journalling notes.

I have also used their chipboard Chandelier #1 Medium and painted it black and coated it with 3 coats of the UTEE. I have also made 2 handmade embellishments cutting them out from their papers, the purple roses are cut out using a 1" circle punch and set underneath a 1" glass epoxy dome and set in a brass setting.

Trifold Shutter Card with an adaptation
with matching box for presenting as a gift!

This is my second card I have completed as Guest Designer for Molossi this month - it is a bit different from the normal Trifold Shutter Cards with a much larger space at the end of the card for your personal message or if you prefer a larger embellishment. You could also have your favorite stamp colored on this panel due to the generous size.

I find when making these shutter cards if you use a double sided scrapbook paper with borders on both sides in the design of the paper, it will correspond a lot easier for you when putting your cards together.

Thank you so much Angela for sharing your talents with us this month! We've enjoyed having you!

ENDLESS SUMMER BY CATHI

Hi Cathi here with my first project for February! I kept my layout fairly, just using a bit of subtle background stamping so the Manor House papers and flowers could take center stage! I really love the calm feeling of this layout!

I chose the Cobble Stone Wall chipboard and the Endless Summer words. I covered them in gesso, heated them till they bubbled and got a great texture. I inked them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink first and then edged them with Black Soot Distress Ink to tie in with the colors of the paper and flowers, I love the graded effect of colors on the chipboard. For the flowers, I used the gorgeous white Minuettes - Pink mixLetters from Paris, and Denim Vinettes. The fussy cut butterfly actually came from the packaging of one of the flower packs, a finishing detail!

LAYERS, FLOWERS AND FUSSY CUTTING...

Rikki here with another layout to share with you all. Last week I mentioned about layers, fussy cutting and flowers.....

So where do you start? For myself its about keeping the background simple, flat with a boarder so things can ''spill'' from the centre section. The glitter cardstock is perfect for that, just remember its thicker and to be a little bit gentle with your board punches....
I broke one handle on one of mine, for this layout, but it can still be used and its was worth it :)

When it comes to your ''clusters'' I work on odd numbers so 7, 5, 3, its an old graphic design trick it looks pleasing to the eye. So there's 3 flowers, 2 butterflies and 2 fussy cut flourishes.
You can also see 3 doilies that the photos are sitting on. The centre cluster has 1 flower, a paper flower and a flourish and I am sure you can figure out the rest.

This is one of the reasons I love to fussy cut sometimes the paper is too busy but it might have a flow to it and it might be the perfect little embellishment to finish off your cluster.
